Screen Test Amiloyd-B is an in vitro auxiliary screening device for risk alert of dementia (including but not limited to Alzheimer’s disease). It may be used to evaluate brain health status and assist doctors to decide whether further tests are required. This product is intended for people aged 45 years and older. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disease affected by a variety of factors, including age and heredity, and characterized by progressive amnesia and other cognitive dysfunctions, behavioral abnormalities, and neuropsychological alterations; the onset of the disease is insidious, with progressive and irreversible progression. Pathology is characterized by neuroinflammatory plaques (NPs), also known as senile plaques (SPs), neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), and cerebrovascular amyloidosis (CAA). Amyloid-β (amyloid-β, Aβ) is a polypeptide containing 39~42 amino acids produced by the hydrolysis of amyloid precursor (APP) by β-secretase and γ-secretase in turn, of which Aβ40 and Aβ42 content is the most, because of the folding of β in the three-dimensional structure, so called “β amyloid protein”. Aβ has strong auto aggregation and is easy to form extremely difficult to dissolve precipitate, which is the main component of age spots. Aβ42 is more likely to form oligomers than Aβ40, which is more toxic to neurons, and is the main cause of familial early onset AD.
