Mononucleosis Rapid Test – Product code: SC-0647-25

Rapid test for the diagnosis of Infectious Mononucleosis (MI) to detect heterophile antibodies to Infectious Mononucleosis qualitatively in whole blood, serum or plasma. For professional in vitro diagnostic use only. The SCREEN MONO rapid test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is an immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of heterophile antibodies to Infectious Mononucleosis in whole blood, serum or plasma to aid in the diagnosis of Infectious Mononucleosis. Infectious Mononucleosis (MI) is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, which is a member of the herpesvirus family. Symptoms of MI are fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes. In very rare cases, heart or central nervous system problems can occur. Diagnosis of MI is made based on the presence of heterophile antibodies. Infectious Mononucleosis heterophile antibodies belong to the IgM class. They are present in 80-90% of acute MI cases and can be identified in 60-70% of patients during the first weeks of clinical illness. The SCREEN MONO Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a simple test that uses bovine erythrocyte extract to qualitatively and selectively determine Infectious Mononucleosis heterophile antibodies in whole blood, serum or plasma in minutes. The rapid MONO test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a lateral scroll immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of heterophile antibodies to MI in whole blood, serum or plasma. In this test, the antigen extracted from bovine erythrocytes is immobilized in the test line area. During the test the sample reacts with the antigen coated particles extracted from bovine erythrocytes that have been applied to the labeled swab. This compound migrates chromatographically along the test and interacts with the antigen extracted from immobilized bovine erythrocytes. If the specimen contains MI heterophile antibodies, a colored line appears in the test line region, indicating a positive result. If the specimen does not contain MI heterophile antibodies, a colored line will not appear in the test line region indicating a negative result. As a procedural control, a line always appears in the test control zone indicating that the correct amount of sample has been poured and the membrane has been soaked.
